Funding for Digital Inclusion Programme
NEHA’s Digital Inclusion Programme Among 19 Projects Funded by HFA’s €500,000 Social Investment Fund
North & East Housing Association is proud to be among 19 community initiatives awarded funding through the Housing Finance Agency’s (HFA) Social Investment Fund (SIF), which this year totals €500,000—double the amount awarded in 2024.
The SIF supports projects that enhance neighbourhoods, promote inclusion, and improve quality of life in communities where HFA-funded homes are delivered. This year’s awards span 10 counties and include a wide range of initiatives such as:
- Children’s play areas
- Community cafés
- Youth arts and creativity programmes
- Digital access and skills schemes
- Indoor communal spaces for older residents
NEHA’s successful application will fund the Connect and Thrive digital inclusion programme, designed to empower tenants through improved access to technology and digital skills.
“We are delighted to have been awarded funding from the Housing Finance Agency to support our Connect and Thrive programme,” said Elaine Bruton, Tenant Services & Engagement Manager at NEHA.
“This investment will go directly toward the design, delivery, and development of a programme that empowers tenants through digital access and skills. It includes ‘How To’ digital training, upgraded equipment, and a ‘Train the Trainers’ initiative to ensure long-term sustainability.
We are confident that this programme will deliver meaningful and lasting benefits for tenants, and we see real potential for it to evolve into a peer-led, shareable model that other Approved Housing Bodies across Ireland can adopt.”
The HFA’s expanded fund reflects a growing commitment to supporting vibrant, inclusive communities alongside the delivery of social and affordable housing. Speaking about the awards, Deirdre Collier, CEO of the Housing Finance Agency, said:
“We’re proud to support 19 community projects through this year’s expanded Social Investment Fund. These initiatives promote wellbeing, encourage community engagement, and support social inclusion—particularly for residents in specialist housing and underrepresented groups.
By funding creative, forward-thinking projects, the HFA is helping communities meet today’s needs while planning for a more sustainable future.”
