North & East staff and tenants had a fantastic and festive afternoon teaming up with and attending the Christmas Experience held in the Kells Peoples Resource Centre. With over 100 people in attendance from across the community there was a lot going on.

We are looking for colourful and exciting ideas for our Christmas cards this year. Great prizes to be won, so let your imagination loose! Each winner will receive a prize and will have their cards professionally printed to give to family and friends. The winning designs will also be used as our corporate Christmas cards which are sent to all residents, other businesses and organisations we deal with throughout the year.  There are 3 Categories as follows;

Many thanks to all who took part and to everyone who voted in our Garden Competition. The standard was very high and there are obvioulsy no shortage of green fingers in North & East! The residents of McArdle Green have community spirit in spades and showed this today as they took it upon themselves to arrange a Barbeque for all of their neighbours.

The sports day in Blackthorne Grove was a great success with kids and parents from all over the community coming out to take part in all of the different events being held.

The sports day in Seaview Grove was a huge success as children and parents from the community came out in great numbers to take part in and help run the day’s events.

Neighbours Day has been celebrated all cross Europe for the past 16 years.  Across 36 countries and 20 million people this event has grown with each passing year. The goal of Neighbours Day is to encourage and celebrate communities in coming together and getting to know one another better.  This year North & East Housing Association hosted a Neighbours Day event in conjunction with the Connect Family Resource Centre for the all the residents of McArdle Green and surrounding areas in Moneymore. The tenants of North & East, along with the surrounding local community in Moneymore wholeheartedly embraced what this event represents.

.On 27th April 2015 North & East handed over the keys to 22 homes in McArdle Green, Moneymore to our new tenants. McArdle Green is a scheme of 22 social housing homes and 3 Incremental Purchase homes and was built on a site provided by Louth County Council. It is named in memory of the late Noel McArdle who was a long-standing member of the Board of North & East. The development was funded through a mixture of state funding, North & East’s own resources and private finance. The potential of this type of funding model was acknowledged last year’s Allianz/ICSH Housing awards when the scheme won in the category of Innovative Financial Model.  That is not the only recognition for the scheme as it was also recently named as Public Sector Magazine’s Best New Social Housing Development 2015.
