.On 27th April 2015 North & East handed over the keys to 22 homes in McArdle Green, Moneymore to our new tenants. McArdle Green is a scheme of 22 social housing homes and 3 Incremental Purchase homes and was built on a site provided by Louth County Council. It is named in memory of the late Noel McArdle who was a long-standing member of the Board of North & East. The development was funded through a mixture of state funding, North & East’s own resources and private finance. The potential of this type of funding model was acknowledged last year’s Allianz/ICSH Housing awards when the scheme won in the category of Innovative Financial Model. That is not the only recognition for the scheme as it was also recently named as Public Sector Magazine’s Best New Social Housing Development 2015.

The children in the communities of Seaview Grove , Moneymore and Blackthorn Grove came out in great numbers in the days leading up to Easter to take part in the annual Easter cleanup. They put on their high vis jackets, grabbed a litter picker, a bag and together showed fantastic teamwork, community pride and enthusiasm as they picked up every piece of the litter in their area. Once all of the cleaning up was done it was time for the Easter Egg hunt. The children gathered together, were split into teams and given a picture showing them which eggs their team had to find to win. The teams of Easter egg hunters, with baskets in hand then went running all over their estates frantically trying to find the eggs they needed to win. In the end, everyone who took part won and after all the running around was finished the children queued up to get their Easter Egg for a job well done.

North & East Housing Association are delighted to announce that we have been awarded certified body status by the Housing Finance Agency (HFA). The HFA was established as a state-owned company in 1982 and provides loan finance to local authorities and Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs). The HFA requires Housing Associations to have robust Corporate Governance and clearly defined future development plans. The awarding of certified body status allows North & East Housing access to loan finance that will fund our future development plans as outlined in our 5 year Strategic Plan, 2016 – 2020. North & East residents from Kells and Navan enjoyed a respite from the cold weather at one of their regular coffee mornings in the Newgrange Hotel in Navan. Housing Officer Jackie Knight has been organising the coffee mornings for the past couple of years and they are a great opportunity for North & East residents and staff to get to know each other in a more informal setting.

Halloween came early to North & East Housing Association with the Fancy Dress Halloween party in An Cearnog on 29th October. The estate office was transformed into a spooky disco as all sorts of pumpkins ghosts and ghouls played party games and danced to the disco music. As the photos show a fun time was had by all ages.
